Commercial Transportation: Railroad
The Railroad Team at GWB has broad experience in railroad law litigation matters and represents Class 1 railroads and short lines in catastrophic accident emergency response as well as all stages of the litigation process, from liability prevention to appeals.
Commercial Transportation: Trucking
The Trucking Team members have extensive experience representing major motor carriers in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Northern Georgia as well as acting as counsel for commercial transportation organizations. Attorneys handle catastrophic personal injury cases including emergency response to the scene, commercial disputes, cargo damage claims involving application of the Carmack Amendment, Carriage of Goods by Sea Act and international treaties, review of transportation documents, including contracts of carriage, brokerage and freight forwarding agreements, bills of lading, FMC service contracts, and other transportation related documents and papers, handling of freight charge disputes and collections and insurance and indemnification issues. GWB’s workers’ compensation team also handles workers’ compensation law matters for the commercial motor carrier industry as well.

The Governmental Liability Team advises and represents state, county, and municipal governmental agencies and their employees, as well as private firms, self-insureds, insurance professionals, and individuals in litigation involving complex government liability and civil rights litigation.
The Healthcare and Benefits Team provides legal representation to health care professionals, facilities, and other providers, in a variety of health care litigation matters, including ERISA and class actions. The firm also represents health care professionals and facilities in professional negligence matters.
Human Resources & Employment
The Workplace Practices Group represents employers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured organizations in a variety of workers’ compensation and employment law matters. This representation also includes assisting clients in identify ways to reduce their exposure to workers’ compensation claims.
The Insurance Coverage Team has extensive experience handling a variety of insurance issues, including personal, commercial, excess, and umbrella policies. The team’s focus includes all aspects of insurance defense and insurance law including both first and third party claims. The team travels to London regularly to meet and advise Lloyd’s of London clients.
The Intellectual Property Team focuses its practice on litigation and assisting clients in enforcing their patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights and defending clients subjected to patent litigation, trademark litigation, and copyright litigation claims.
The Product Liability Team provides legal representation in all aspects of the litigation process. The firm’s product liability law attorneys have experience defending claims involving a wide variety of products. The firm’s Workers’ Compensation and Toxic and Mass Tort teams also regularly represent manufacturers.
The Professional Negligence Team has extensive experience handling malpractice actions and investigations conducted by the South Carolina Department of Labor and licensing and regulatory boards on behalf of medical, legal, and business professionals.
