Biography
Emily Seaton is a litigation attorney practicing in the firm’s Charlotte, North Carolina office. Emily joined GWB from a boutique civil litigation firm in Charlotte focusing on trusts & estates and fiduciary litigation. Prior to private practice, Emily completed a federal clerkship with the Honorable Clifton L. Corker, U.S. District Judge, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, where she gained valuable experience performing complex legal research and drafting in a myriad of civil and criminal cases. Prior to her clerkship, Emily also completed multiple legal internships across Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, including in the in-house legal department for a well-known research hospital. With a passion for analytical writing, Emily took third place in the Center for Alcohol Policy’s 13th Annual Writing Competition in 2020 with her essay, Are the 2020s Truly “Unprecedented Times?”: How America’s Alcohol History Can Inform Government Health Policy During the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Emily received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law. During her time in Athens, she served as the Vice President of the Christian Legal Society and Executive Editor of the Georgia Journal of International & Comparative Law. Emily was voted Most Valuable Executive Board Member by the Journal’s Editor in Chief and Executive Managing Editor. Emily also published a note in Volume 47 of the Georgia Journal of International & Comparative Law.
Emily is licensed to practice law in both North Carolina and South Carolina and enjoys listening to country music, solving sudoku puzzles, and exploring the local restaurant scene in her free time.
