Biography
Makenzie P. Segars is a litigation attorney in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina office. Segars earned her J.D. at the University of South Carolina School of Law and was admitted into the South Carolina Bar in 2019. While attending the University of South Carolina School of Law, Makenzie was involved in the Mock Trial Bar, Moot Court Bar, a member of the South Carolina Bar Law Student Affiliates Division, and Communications Chair for the Student Bar Association.
Having served as a clerk under the Honorable R. Lawton McIntosh, Segars brings experience in courtroom proceedings, pretrial conferences, motions, hearings and trials in both criminal and civil cases. Makenzie has been recognized by Columbia Business Monthly’s Legal Elite 2020 in Government and Insurance.
Her practice focuses on the areas of Commercial Transportation/Trucking and Torts and Personal Injury. A majority of her time is spent on transportation, advising and defending insurers, self-insured corporations and third-party risk managers on complex litigation matters involving tort liability and risk management issues.
