GWB Welcomes Associate Attorneys throughout the Carolinas

Gallivan White Boyd is pleased to announce growth throughout the Carolinas. The firm welcomes associate attorneys to each of its offices in North Carolina and South Carolina.
James “Brad” Cheek is an associate in the Charlotte, North Carolina, office concentrating his practice on commercial transportation and tort and personal injury. Brad is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law where he was publication editor for the North Carolina Banking Institute Journal and an executive member of the Holderness Moot Court Corporate Law Appellate Advocacy Team. Currently, Brad is an active member of the Mecklenburg County Bar.
Makenzie E. Polston is a litigation attorney in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina, office. Upon graduation from the University of South Carolina School of Law and admission into the South Carolina Bar, Mackenzie served as a law clerk for the Honorable R. Lawton McIntosh. Her time with Judge McIntosh provided Makenzie with extensive courtroom experience, including trials in both criminal and civil cases, which she is able to put to use in her daily practice. Notably, Makenzie was recognized by Columbia Business Monthly’s Legal Elite 2020 for her work in the practice area Government and Insurance.
Kyle McGann is a litigation attorney in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina, office. A graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, Kyle focuses his practice on class action and multidistrict litigation, design and construction, products liability, professional negligence, strategic resolution, tort and personal injury, and toxic and mass torts. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as an attorney for a regional, construction law firm. He has been recognized by both Columbia Business Monthly’s Legal Elite in 2020 and Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars in 2021, in the area of Construction Law. In addition to his practice, Kyle has coached and judged middle school, high school, and college mock trial competitions in South Carolina.
Ioannis (Ian) G. Conits is Gallivan White Boyd’s most recent addition to its office in Greenville, South Carolina. A graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and a cum laude graduate of Clemson University, Conits focuses his practice on tort and personal injury. Prior to joining Gallivan White Boyd, Ian amassed significant litigation experience while serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Letitia H. Verdin, as an Assistant Solicitor for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office, and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina. Ian is also active in the community. As an Upstate ChangeMaker, he volunteers in community and networking events to raise awareness for Students in Action, inspiring young leaders to be successful in school, work and life.
